Our Philosophy of Education

HISTORY OF THE MINISTRY
Crossroads Community Christian Academy
(Valley Hi Nazarene Academy)
Valley Hi Church of the Nazarene Learning Center began its ministry in 1980.  The name was later changed to CrossRoads Christian Academy when the name of the church changed to CrossRoads Community Church.  Our mission is to provide 'Education and Values that Last a Lifetime.'

We live in a very competitive world and it is become more and more competitive.  We want to produce children who are advanced in the learning.  For this reason, we use the Abeka curriculum.  This curriculum is advanced, but it also teaches in a way that makes sense compared to the Common Core we are not seeing in the public schools.  We believe that if your children attend CrossRoads, they will be very prepared for the real world.

Not only do we want high academics, we also want to teach high values.  Values such as politeness, common courtesy, and obedience are values which create greater opportunities for success.  If a man or woman is unable to submit to their authority at work because they don't like what is being asked of them, their authority (supervisors) are not going to look to promote them.  Instead they will look for ways to get rid of them.  Co-workers, employees, family members, and really all relationships are enhanced and made better through politeness and common courtesy.  With each generation passing, it seems these values are fading.  Our desire is to teach our students these values. Along with our parents, we hope to preserve these good qualities even if the rest of our culture is losing them.  In this way, we will see our children do very well in life.

From a Biblical point of view, we want to teach and model doing our very best as a way of giving glory to God.  When people know that we are Christians, but we are rude, unruly, or lazy, this affects our witness to others.  Whereas if we claim to be Christian and we are excellent students, employees, and bosses, we will have a good reputation and God will receive glory.

1 Corinthians 10:31 “…So whether then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.”

We want to point children to God
Are we a perfect organization?  Of course not.  But we sincerely strive to press on toward the mark of the high calling.
Philippians 3:14, “I press on toward the goal, to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ.”

We make no apologies or excuses for upholding Godly principles and standards.  We are confident that the majority of our parents choose our Christian center with the belief and hope that biblical principles and standards will be upheld.

Many of our parents are active in their own respective churches and want God’s Word and ways maintained for their children.

Others may not be active in church but choose the Christian Center with the confidence that we indeed are “apart” from worldly centers and they know God is an integral part of all we do.  In our attitudes, beliefs and commitment, we make a sincere effort to maintain a spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness and faithfulness as outlined in Galatians 5:22 (the fruit of the Spirit)

Why do we share all this information with you?
To show you what a diversified group of people we serve, that though backgrounds, foundations and faith may be different, we must agree on one thing….
JESUS

OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

As an integral ministry of Crossroads Community Church of the Nazarene, Crossroads Christian Academy has adopted a philosophy of teaching that incorporates God’s Word as set forth in the Association of Christian School International’s Statement of Faith.

We believe:

  • The Bible to be inspired, the only infallible, authoritative, inerrant Word of God        (2 Timothy 3:15)
  • There is one God, eternally existent in three persons:  Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 28:19, John 10:30)
  • In the deity of Jesus Christ (John 10:33)
  • His virgin birth (Isaiah 7:14, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:35)
His sinless life (Hebrews 4:15, Hebrews 7:26)
                    His miracles (John 2:11)
His atoning death (1 Corinthians 15:3, Ephesians 1:7, Hebrews 2:9)
                    His resurrection (John 11:25, 1 Corinthians 15:4)
His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19)
His personal return in power and glory (Acts 1:11, Revelation 9:11)
  •  In the absolute necessity of regeneration by the Holy Spirit for salvation because of the sinfulness of the human nature; and that men are justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of Jesus Christ and that only by God’s grace and through faith alone we are saved.  (John 3:16-19, John 5:24, Romans 3:23, Romans 5:8-9, Ephesians 2:8-10, Titus 3:5)
  • In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; for those that are saved, to the resurrection of life and to those that are lost, to the resurrection of the damned. (John 5:28-29)
  • In the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:9, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, Galatians 3:26-28)
  • In the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a Godly life (Romans 8:13-14, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Ephesians 4:30, Ephesians 5:18)

Students and parents are encouraged to regularly attend and be involved in a Bible believing church.

Although CRCA is affiliated with the Church of the Nazarene by association and doctrine, all religious classes, devotions or chapel services are presented to acquaint the student with basic Bible knowledge and life application, and not for the purpose of getting families to leave their church and attend CrossRoads

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

  •  To make each child feel loved, secure and to meet his/her needs to the best of our ability and qualifications.  Our grace and strength comes from God.
  •  To provide for preschool children from one year to five years old, the experiences of early childhood that formulate foundations on which to build a strong academic education.
  •  To provide children six to twelve years participation in activities in which they can laugh and learn.  Our center provides before and after school care for children in this age range.  We also provide care for them during the summer months.
  •  We want the children to learn right from wrong.  We want them to mature spiritually and morally.
  •  We will provide activities, experiences and games that will enable all the children to grow emotionally, mentally and socially.
  •  We will provide physical activities that enable the children to stay physically fit.  In addition, our meals and snacks provide the children with half of their daily nutritional requirements.  We encourage good hygiene and health habits.
  •  Our desire is for each child to believe he/she is special God, and in addition…to teach them the worth of others as well as the concept of giving to and serving others.
