"You Don't Know Nothin'"

One of the most popular Scriptures is God reminding us that His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than ours. It is probably where we get another popular saying: God works in mysterious ways. When God reminds us that His ways are higher than our ways, what He is really saying is that we don't know nothin'.

And isn't it true. In Isaiah 55, where God reminds us that we don't know nothin', He then says that as the Heavens are higher than the Earth so His thoughts are higher than ours. How can we pretend to know what God is doing? How can we pretend to understand all that God is accomplishing each day all over the world in every soul because He is at work in the life of every human being every minute of every day. And we don't have a clue.

The key word to Isaiah 55 is the word 'For.' God is telling us about all of the abundance of God and how He wants to give to us what we could never earn or deserve and then that word-'For.' The word 'For' means 'as a result of' or 'because of.' After telling us all that God wants to do for us, it says, "For His ways are higher than ours..."

It is because we don't know what God is doing that we are able to receive all of the goodness of God. You don't know nothin'. I don't know nothin'. And because we don't know nothin, we must seek after the Lord and lean not on our own understanding, but instead in all our ways acknowledge Him. (Prov. 3:5)

If God were to reveal to us what He was doing, we would take it for granted. But because we don't know, we cry out to Him for help. We seek Him for guidance. We pray for miralcles. All of this brings us under the wings of the Almighty where we find the over-abundance of God.

I don't know nothing, and I praise God for it!
